Saturday morning and 25 or so obsessive-compulsive cyclists have nothing better to do than worry about whether their gearing will get them up the mountain climbs, whether to use tape or velcro to attach a spare tire, and what kind of energy gel will get them through the last 25 miles of each day. We overheard another rider at breakfast this morning trying to explain Gatorade to the guy who has come in from Liverpool England for this ride. Meanwhile they have scheduled bike inspections this morning (Tom and I are finished with that) and an orientation meeting this afternoon. Tonight is a group dinner and FINALLY - after all these months of anticipation we actually get on the bikes tomorrow morning and start our trek (pun intended) to Boston: 1st stop Riverside. The photo of the day is of the welcome poster in the hotel lobby - it does draw a few comments from the non-cycling guests at the hotel...mostly along the lines of "OMG" or "You are doing what?" So much for today...tomorrow is for real.
